The Conference of Directors of Polish Academic Libraries formally began its activities on 29 May of the current year. At the founding meeting in Wrocław, the postulates related to undertaking more active, consolidated cooperation in the environment of academic libraries, the so-called classical ones – following the example of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities – were particularly strong.
During the founding meeting, a three-person KDBUP Presidium was elected, headed by the Director of the University of Lodz Library, Tomasz Piestrzyński. The Presidium also includes Dr Małgorzata Dąbrowicz, Vice President of KDBUP, Director of the Poznań University Library and Dr Dorota Siwecka, Vice President of KDBUP, Director of the Wroclaw University Library.
Although the conference is in its early stages, its members are confident that jointly addressing the issues and challenges facing university libraries today will yield results and help strengthen the bonds between the entities they represent.
Our basic goals include presenting a common position and expressing opinions on academic libraries, undertaking integrating activities and developing, coordinating and maintaining cooperation, initiating and implementing joint tasks in the field of managing library resources and services, supporting scientific research and education, supporting initiatives aimed at improving the operation of libraries
