During the conference, its participants will have the opportunity to present their thoughts and work in the form of papers and posters. Topics include the interrelationships between climate and water resources, biodiversity and urban life, as well as the impact of climate change on the circular economy, the increasingly frequent extreme weather events and everyday choices that impact the environment. The posters will focus on real, local climate-friendly actions undertaken by the young authors.
The programme also includes events prepared by the University of Lodz community:
9 December 2025, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- The workshop "Wspólnie zmieniajmy nasze miasta – warsztaty z planowania błękitno-zielonej infrastruktury" [Let's Change Our Cities Together – Blue-Green Infrastructure Planning Workshop] led by Aleksandra Chamerska, Konrad Budziński, Hubert Krzyszkowski, Maria Olbert, Wiktoria Kujawa, and Dr Paweł Jarosiewicz from the Department of UNESCO Chair on Ecohydrology and Applied Ecology. The event participants will learn how modern blue-green infrastructure solutions can help cities adapt to global warming and how to design spaces resilient to the effects of the water crisis, which is increasingly affecting Polish residents.
10 December 2025, 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.
- Dr hab. Małgorzata Burchard-Dziubińska, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, will deliver a lecture entitled "Ochrona klimatu. Dlaczego tak trudno o sukces?" [Climate Protection: Why Is Success So Difficult?]. In her presentation, the researcher will discuss why, despite years of global efforts, greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, and will outline the psychological and behavioural barriers that slow the implementation of climate-friendly measures. Based on her own research, she will also present eight social attitudes toward the climate crisis.
10 December 2025, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Workshops entitled "Klimatyczny panel obywatelski w moim mieście, w mojej szkole" [Climate Citizens' Panel in My City, at My School] led by Dr Kamil Brzeziński and Klaudia Kamińska from the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, University of Lodz. The workshops participants will learn about the concept of a citizens' panel, its origins and principles of operation. They will then participate in a practical simulation that will demonstrate how young people can engage in decision-making processes regarding climate protection measures in their immediate surroundings.
The “Młodzi o Klimacie 2025” conference is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Minister of Climate and Environment, the Minister of Education, the Mayor of Lodz Hanna Zdanowska, the Rector of the University of Lodz, the Rector of the Lodz University of Technology, the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Lodz and UNEP/GRID-Warsaw. The University of Lodz and the Bank Ochrony Środowiska Foundation are the conference partners.
