This year's 16th Camera Action Festival features over 70 films – including top premieres from Berlinale, Cannes and Venice. Nearly 60 guests and 15 events in the form of workshops and meet and greets with filmmakers. Instead of waiting for theatrical releases, simply book your time in Lodz between 23 and 26 October 2025. The festival also has a 12-day online edition (between 15 and 26 October on the Think Film platform).
Young Science together with Camera and Action
The University of Lodz Film Studies Student Science Club has been a pillar of festival discussions for years, co-creating a space for thought exchange and an atmosphere of openness. It's here that questions arise that provoke reflection. Our scientists, along with representatives of the Film Studies Student Science Club, participate in the festival as jurors, selectors and debate moderators:
- The selection of short films and animations for the International Authors Spotlight Competition is supported by the University of Lodz Film Studies Student Science Club. This year, Karolina Majka and Ada Raczkowska cooperated with competition selector Agnieszka Hawryluk in selecting the films.
- During the festival's closing gala, we will learn the verdict of the Jury of the University of Lodz Film Studies Student Science Club – Julia Jeziorczak, Julia Kaźmierczak and Adrian Michalski, who, along with other juries, will select the winners from over 24 competition shorts.
- As part of the festival's Film Studies Campaign, science clubs from across Poland will once again meet. This is a unique opportunity to discuss common challenges and inspirations in cinema research. This year, the discussion will also be moderated by our representative, Jakub Dulny, a member of the University of Lodz Film Studies Student Science Club.
Science inspires festivals!
This year, festival audiences will also have a chance to discover how cinema and science intertwine and how they comment on reality from different perspectives. The festival organisers, in cooperation with the university, have prepared a special section of films from the University of Lodz's "Science Inspires" series. Presentations of our video materials will be available to all viewers online from 15 to 26 October on the Think Film platform, and also on-site – as a supplement to feature film screenings.
