Come to the park, join us!
- If you enjoy art, are looking for new experiences, embrace challenges and enjoy creative collaboration with artists, this project is for you.
- During these two-day workshops, you will engage in an artistic dialogue with the surroundings in the Biedermann’s Park and join us in bringing art into its space.
- We encourage the UniLodz students to participate in creative activities that align with the project's concept. We also welcome employees of the University of Lodz. Everyone is welcome – these will be two days of creative fun.
Outdoor workshops on 7 and 8 May
Objects that will become a part of an artistic intervention will be created during the workshops with the artists we have invited. The works, created with the participation of Monika Goetzendorf-Grabowska, Piotr Jargusz and Patrycja Grzyś, will be integrated into the park space – in harmony with nature – and will become a part of a special site-specific exhibition.
The group working together with Piotr Jargusz will be painting pictures. The work will incorporate textual work, drawing on research articles by Dr Paulina Borowczyk (University of Lodz), Dr Patrycja Grzyś (University of Lodz, and poems by Prof. Urszula Zajączkowska (The Warsaw University of Life Sciences), who is a biologist and a poet, the author of the book "Patyki, badyle".
Monika Goetzendorf-Grabowska will lead the artistic and educational workshop "Teksty śróddrzewne" [Texts Among the Trees] from the series Dendrography. The starting point for the workshop is Prof. Grzegorz Sztabiński's idea that nature appears as a constantly writing subject, the author of signs emerging in the rhythm of growth, light and transience. The artistic gesture will become a form of self-quotation: a conscious return to existing structures, their reinterpretation and the addition of one's own presence to the existing order of the world, in our case, the Biedermann’s Park – an act of memory realised as a process of shared experience of the landscape.
Meanwhile, the group working with Dr Patrycja Grzyś will explore the Biedermann’s Park as a space to be deciphered – a place full of traces, signs and presence that usually escapes the rush. Participants will progress through successive stages, leading them from a general exploration of the space to leave their own ephemeral traces within it.
The whole experience will be enriched by team-building and performance activities.
What will you gain by joining us?
- You will create objects in an art installation in the Biedermann’s Park together with artists.
- You will experience contact with nature and art.
- This will help you reduce your stress levels – after all, this is the essence of the beneficial effects of nature and art.
- You will learn why the role of art and nature in public spaces is crucial to our well-being.
- You will co-create an outdoor artistic display that will be held in the park during the Łódź Photo Festival, University Children's Day and Łódź's Birthday.

Culture is as important to us as science. We believe that both intertwine – research inspires art, and art allows us to discover science in a new light. That's why we create a space where people, ideas and emotions come together.
