The thematic scope of the conference encompasses the entire North American continent, understood as a space of dynamic political, media and cultural processes. The aim of the conference is to create a platform for reflection on the contemporary challenges facing North America, its internal tensions, crises, as well as directions of change in political, social and cultural contexts.
The thematic scope of the conference includes issues related to:
- domestic and foreign policies of North American states
- U.S.–Canada–Mexico relations
- democratic processes
- populism and social polarisation
- traditional and digital media
- popular culture and its social and political significance
- issues of identity, minorities and human rights
- migration and migration policies
- security challenges
- North American states position in the global international order
The special guest of the conference will be the keynote speaker, Prof. Cecylia Woloch – an American poet and academic lecturer, a two-time Fulbright Fellow, who in 2026 is carrying out a research and teaching grant at Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
We invite students, doctoral candidates and individuals whose research interests focus on interdisciplinary American, Canadian and Latin American Studies, International Relations, political science, sociology, media studies, cultural studies, history and anthropology to contribute. The duration of each presentation should not exceed 15 minutes.
The organisers reserve the right to select submissions. The acceptance of a paper will be based on the quality of the submitted abstract, its relevance to the conference theme and its innovative and analytical approach.
Interested participants are kindly requested to submit their abstracts and register for the conference by completing the application form below no later than 26 March 2026.
Information regarding the acceptance or rejection of proposals will be sent via email on 31 March 2026. The Conference fee amount is PLN 120.
