Winner of the UNIC Expert Voices Fund at Conference on Sociology of Sport

Prof. Michał Kobierecki (Faculty of International and Political Studies, University of Lodz) has received funding from the UNIC Expert Voices Fund to participate in the 21st European Conference on Sociology of Sport in Warsaw (25-27 June 2025), organised by the European Association for Sociology of Sport. During the event, Prof. Kobierecki will present the results of research conducted within the UNIC Alliance on changes in national colours by Russian athletes in the context of sanctions imposed on Russian sport following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The aforementioned research was conducted by Prof. Kobierecki together with Prof. Gijsbert Oonek from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, and was initiated during our scientist’s research stay within the UNIC Alliance in Rotterdam in September 2024.

In contemporary science, international cooperation is rightly considered an important issue, which enables the exchange of skills, experiences and perspectives between researchers from different centres and representing different scientific disciplines. The joint reflection of the historian and political scientist on the methodology and theoretical framework resulted in valuable supplements to the perspectives
