For the virtual exchange to be effective, cooperation between people who conduct the classes is essential – a precise idea for their implementation must be presented and the goals and tasks must be clearly communicated to students.
The workshops will cover the following aspects:
- planning Virtual Exchange activities,
- effective teaching in an international, virtual environment,
- supporting students,
- adapting the Virtual Exchange format to the specifics of their own courses.
The workshop participants will also learn about the full spectrum of effects and benefits associated with student participation in such activities.

The last workshop addresses the specifics of conducting classes that address current yet controversial issues. Such issues are familiar to students but discussing them often leads to students adopting destructive positions and excessive polemics, which can lead to dangerous conflicts during classes. During the workshop, participants will get familiar with a proprietary tool to address the pitfalls of teaching such sensitive topics and assess the risk of these pitfalls occurring in their own discipline.
“Teaching on Controversial Issues: How to Avoid the Pitfalls”
- Date and time: 25 November 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Facilitator: Fredrik Portin
- More information and registration
- Registration deadline: 10 November 2025
- Place limit: 25 people – available on a first-come, first-served basis
The workshops are in English.
