About work on the exhibition
The exhibition consists of photographic narratives about cities in the UNIC Alliance. It presents the identities of the places, their architecture, and their inhabitants in a comparative perspective. Each of the three student teams representing different fields (History of Art, Pedagogy, Journalism) worked on a city they visited.

The work involved not only photographing but also taking field notes and exchanging cultural experiences with the local community. After returning from the visits, online and hybrid seminars were held, during which participants analysed the collected materials, refined the curatorial concept and prepared texts accompanying the exhibition.
The entire material formed the basis for a series of reportage photographs that showcase local urban contexts from the perspective of young artists. Parts of the exhibition will also be available digitally in Polish and English.

More than just an exhibition
The opening will be accompanied by a discussion with students, curators and invited guests.
Coordination and academic supervision
The "UNiCalność. Wystawa studenckich prac fotograficznych" [UNiCality. Exhibition of Student Photographic Works] project is coordinated by the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Lodz. The trips took place between June and October 2025. They were attended by six students, selected through an open cal. The project was supervised by Professor Aneta Pawłowska, Dr Adam Drozdowski and Dr Alicja Piotrowska.

The future of the project
The project will continue in the coming years in a form of new editions of photography exhibitions, joint publications and curatorial workshops, further developing cooperation within the UNIC Arts, Culture & Creativity (UNICART) thematic focus. The UNIC Alliance creates opportunities for students to participate in interdisciplinary and international projects, developing skills that are also essential for the job market.
UNIC for students
The UNIC Alliance of 10 cities and universities (What is UNIC?) provides a range of opportunities for students – collaborative projects provide an opportunity to cooperate in international teams and build a transnational community, learn about other cultures and strengthen relationships with international scientists. UNIC also provides financial support to those traveling abroad.
The "We are UNIC!" project is financed by the European Union under the programme entitled Support for European University Alliances, NAWA project number FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23, amount of project funding from EU funds: PLN 62,705,297.60.
