Coaching at UniLodz – FAQ

What is coaching?

Coaching is the art of achieving goals based on a well-designed plan. It is an in-depth conversation in which you pause for a moment to gain a broader perspective – on your needs, motivations and ways of acting.

It is a space where you are not given ready-made answers but learn how to formulate them yourself. As a result, you discover what truly comes from you and what stems from others’ expectations. Coaching helps you organise your thoughts, define your goals and translate them into specific steps. This allows you to create a plan tailored to you – your values, pace and capabilities – and to learn how to implement it consistently.

It is a process in which a dream stops being just an idea and starts becoming reality.

What coaching is not about

It is neither mentoring nor pseudo-mentoring, which means that:

  • you do not have to be a winner,
  • you do not have to think positively,
  • you do not have to be productive,
  • you do not have to do anything…

… because what matters is what you can do and what you want to do. Coaching is a process in which you discover your needs and values, as well as your unique way of taking action.

What are some example goals we can work on together?

  • planning a professional or academic career,
  • creating an application plan for your dream job or for a Doctoral School,
  • strengthening motivation to handle everyday responsibilities,
  • planning your studies so that they do not conflict with work,
  • discovering your professional potential,
  • choosing a field of study aligned with your interests and potential,

and many others…

Even if you do not yet have a clear goal but are facing a challenge, we can turn that challenge into a goal.

What does the process look like in practice?

  • 1 consultation meeting + 6 coaching sessions (every 1–2 weeks) = the full process,
  • 1 coaching session takes 60–90 minutes,
  • Mode: online (Microsoft Teams) or on-site (Career Office of the University of Lodz, Uniwersytecka 3, 4th floor, room 405).

How to register?

To sign up for the coaching process, contact our advisor and certified coach – Mateusz Grabowski – via the Microsoft Teams platform. Send a message and arrange a meeting at a time convenient for you.
