Dr Piotr Chomczyński, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, who is a sociologist, a specialist in organised crime research, talks about the background to his book "Kucharz" [The Cook]. It is a crime story about the world of drug trafficking as seen through the eyes of its participants, inspired by the author's many years of field research. In a conversation with the podcast hosts, the researcher reveals the realities of the work of a ‘cook’ in a methamphetamine laboratory and explains what the reality looks like that is not visible in official statistics on a daily basis.
Dr Joanna Orzeł from the Faculty of Philosophy and History at the University of Lodz, who is a historian and the author of the book "My, Sarmaci. Mity i rzeczywistość szlachty Rzeczypospolitej" [We, the Sarmatians. Myths and Reality of the Nobility of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth], explains what Sarmatian identity really was and how it developed in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. With humour and erudition, she talks about what aspects of the Sarmatian heritage have permeated contemporary culture and why it still arouses emotions.
