The 35th "Man in Danger" Media Festival will showcase Polish and international documentaries, as well as television and radio reports. Through content and form, they provoke discussion and reflection, challenge stereotypes, avoid simplistic judgments and encourage openness towards others. The festival also features meetings with documentary filmmakers, reporters and journalists. These are conversations with people who help us understand the complexities of the world.
Films On-Site and Online
We are meeting at the Film Museum in Lodz and at the National Centre for Film Culture at EC1 Łódź – City of Culture between 15 and 19 October of the current year. In turn, between 15 and 26 October, together with the Camera Action Festival, as part of the Lodz Film Festival network, we invite you to attend the online part.
Courageously and Together with UniLodz
This year, the University of Lodz is once again the festival's content partner and organiser of accompanying events that combine science, art and social commitment:
- The exhibition "Centripetal Space" – an intervention installation by Marta Nowacka (University of Lodz), exploring the topic of suicidal crisis. It is a symbolic attempt to connect with the emotions of people experiencing mental health crisis. The exhibition opening will take place on 16 October at 4:00 p.m. at the Film Museum in Lodz.
- A meeting about the book "Trwoga powietrzna" [Airborne Fear] – about artists and cultural institutions during the war in Ukraine. This is a project by Prof. Tomasz Ferenc (University of Lodz) and Prof. Marek Domański (The Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts), combining a publication about Ukrainian artists and cultural institutions during the war with an exhibition of documentary photography. Interviewees: Tomasz Ferenc, Marek Domański, Anna Gruver (author of the foreword), moderator: Prof. Katarzyna Waniek. The event will be held on 16 October at 5:00 p.m. at the Urania Cinema, NCKF (EC1).
- Opening of Marek Domański's photography exhibition "Airborne Fear". A significant element of the publication "Trwoga powietrzna. Ukraińscy artyści i instytucje kultury w czasie wojny"[ Airborne Fear. Ukrainian Artists and Cultural Institutions during Wartime] by Professor Tomasz Ferenc are photographs taken by Marek Domański during their joint trips to Lviv, Kyiv and Odessa. The works presented in the exhibition are documentary in nature and maintain a forensic aesthetic. The opening will be held on 16 October 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Photophilosophical Archives of the University of Lodz (basement of the Biedermann’s Palace).

Festival with Science and Culture!
The social responsibility of the University of Lodz is not limited to scientific and teaching activities but also includes active participation in the cultural life of the city. In October, we will be present at two important film festivals – the "Man in Danger" Media Festival and the Camera Action Festival – co-creating spaces for dialogue, reflection and meeting of diverse perspectives. As a university, we are jointly demonstrating that Academic Lodz is a place where science meets culture, and the academic community – students, scientists, and alumni – actively shapes the intellectual and artistic landscape of our city.
